Jeep — a true off-roader, and off-road use needs attention
A genuine Jeep is built for rough terrain, and that kind of use puts different strain on a vehicle than city driving. The 4x4 drivetrain, transfer case, axles, suspension, and underbody all work under serious load, and after mud or fording, sealing of components matters. On the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee we pay close attention to the condition of the 4x4 drivetrain, suspension, and underbody protection, and after heavy off-road use a preventive check-up helps catch wear early.
The city-oriented Compass and Renegade crossovers are simpler, but their suspension still matters — it wears faster on rough roads.
4xe — Jeep's plug-in hybrid, and it's our specialism
Jeep has committed to plug-in hybrids under the 4xe badge: the Compass 4xe, Renegade 4xe, and Wrangler 4xe combine a petrol engine with a traction battery charged from the mains, plus an electric drive that adds both efficiency and off-road pulling power. This is technology built around a battery, power electronics, and a charging system.
As a workshop specialising in hybrids, we diagnose and service this side properly: traction battery condition, the charging system, power electronics, and regenerative braking. The fully electric Avenger stands apart — we diagnose its high-voltage side with equal confidence. If you have a 4xe or an Avenger, you're in the right place.
Engines and the Stellantis connection
Modern Jeeps belong to the Stellantis group and share technology with other brands in it: for example, the 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine is one we already know well from Alfa Romeo and Fiat, and a range of components and electronics run across the whole group. For the owner, that's an advantage — repairs are predictable and parts more accessible than you might expect. On diesel versions we check the emissions system (DPF, EGR); on petrol versions, belt or chain condition depending on the engine, and the cooling system. We service the large American Grand Cherokee and Wrangler with their bigger engines with an eye to their specifics, and we're upfront about scope on rarer components.
