Maserati After the Warranty — an Independent Garage Instead of the Dealer
While the factory warranty is in force, staying in the authorised network makes sense. Once it ends, the difference between the official showroom and a competent independent garage becomes significant — especially on scheduled work, suspension, brakes and electrics.
"Cheaper" here does not mean "worse". It is about the labour rate and the ability to choose between a genuine part and a quality equivalent where that is sensible. On expensive machinery this is especially noticeable, and we discuss every item in advance. On rare and difficult components we are honest about where the work is standard for us and where it needs a specialist approach.
What a Maserati Needs Most Often — the ZF Gearbox, Air Suspension, Brakes
Most Maserati jobs are not exotica but the understandable components of a heavy, powerful car. The ZF gearbox (an 8-speed automatic) is reliable but needs servicing — a timely oil and filter change, which is often forgotten. The air suspension on the Levante and Grecale needs attention to the air struts and the compressor over time. The powerful brakes with their large discs wear actively, especially with spirited driving. Plus the electrics and electronic modules, which need correct adaptation after a repair.
These are exactly the jobs we do first, and it is on these that an independent garage gives the most noticeable saving against the dealer.
The Grecale and Its Link to the Alfa Platform
The current Grecale SUV is built on a platform related to the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, and some of Maserati's components are familiar from the group's engineering. For a garage this is a plus: the repair logic is predictable, and on a number of components parts are more available than a luxury badge might suggest. Knowing the Alfa platform directly helps us with the Grecale.
Folgore — the Electric Maseratis
Maserati is going electric under the Folgore name: the electric Grecale Folgore and GranTurismo Folgore versions. This is technology with a traction battery, power electronics and a charging system in a sporting tune. As a garage with hybrid and electric expertise, we confidently diagnose the high-voltage section and handle brakes, suspension, bodywork and electrics. The scope of work on the traction battery is determined after diagnostics. If you have a Folgore, that falls squarely within our field.
