Mini is part of the BMW group, and that's a key practical point: under the bonnet are BMW engines (three- and four-cylinder B-series units), familiar electronics, and components shared with BMW. Mini's weak points — what we check
Since the Mini's underlying technology is shared with BMW, the weak points are similar too. On petrol engines, the cooling system (water pump, thermostat) deserves attention, along with the timing chain on some engines, gasket leaks, and carbon build-up from direct injection. Turbocharged Cooper S models put extra strain on these components. Automated and automatic gearboxes need timely servicing. We check these components first and work ahead of problems, so that cheap prevention doesn't turn into an expensive repair.
