Volkswagen — an Everyman Marque, and Servicing Should Be the Same
VW's main advantage for the owner is how common it is. The platform is well understood, parts are always available and reasonably priced, and the typical traits of the models are known in advance. That means servicing can be done predictably and without overpaying, if the garage knows the marque.
That is exactly what we rely on: clear diagnostics, a justified scope of work and a real choice of parts — genuine or a quality equivalent. For a mass-market marque this approach gives a noticeable saving against an authorised station.
TSI and TDI Engines — Common Topics
Petrol TSI engines have known traits by generation: on the early 1.4 TSI — the timing chain tensioner, on some early 1.5 TSI — running issues at low revs, and on direct-injection engines carbon build-up over time. We check these components first and monitor oil consumption where it tends to run high.
TDI diesels are durable but need attention to the emissions system — the DPF, EGR and SCR with AdBlue. As with any diesel, problems arise more often on short city trips. We diagnose and service this part in detail. Newer engines add an eTSI mild hybrid (48 V), whose operation we also check.
The DSG Gearbox — We Service the Dry and the Wet
VW fits two types of DSG: the dry (DQ200) and the wet (DQ250 and related). Both need servicing, and the idea of a "maintenance-free" gearbox is mistaken. The wet DSG has an oil and filter change schedule, the dry one has its own traits with the clutch and the mechatronic unit. We carry out DSG servicing, not just repair once it has broken, which is noticeably cheaper. More on the group's automated gearboxes on the DSG servicing page.
Volkswagen Van Service and Repair — Transporter, Crafter, Caddy
Commercial VWs are the backbone of many businesses, and for them downtime is especially costly. We service the Transporter (T6 and T6.1), Caravelle and Multivan, Crafter, Caddy Cargo, as well as the electric ID. Buzz Cargo. A lift with an 8-tonne capacity lets us take a loaded or heavy van — something not every garage can do.
For vans we carry out scheduled servicing, chassis and brake repairs under load, diesel and AdBlue work, diagnostics, bodywork and respraying. For companies and fleets we can agree on scheduled servicing to a timetable.
ID. Electric Models — ID.3, ID.4, ID. Buzz
VW is actively developing the ID.-line electric models (ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, ID. Buzz). This is technology with a traction battery, power electronics and a charging system. As a garage with hybrid expertise, we confidently diagnose the high-voltage section, and also handle brakes, suspension, bodywork and electrics. The scope of work on the traction battery itself is determined individually after diagnostics. For model specifications and technical data, see the official Volkswagen website.
