Volvo — Safety and Electrification
Volvo has built its reputation on safety for decades, and modern models are literally packed with driver-assistance systems: cameras, radars and sensors for autonomous braking, lane-keeping and blind-spot monitoring. At the same time the marque is electrifying actively: almost the whole range is available as a mild hybrid, a Recharge plug-in hybrid or a fully electric car.
Both directions call for a garage that can work with both the electronics and the high-voltage section. We are that garage: our hybrid and electric expertise is our foundation, and we work with the safety systems with an understanding of their logic.
Driver-Assistance Systems and Calibration After a Repair
This is something that is often missed. The cameras and radars of Volvo's safety systems sit behind the windscreen, in the bumpers and mirrors. After a windscreen replacement, bumper repair, suspension work or wheel alignment these sensors often need to be recalibrated — otherwise the autonomous braking, lane-keeping and blind-spot monitoring may work incorrectly, and that directly affects safety.
With such work we check whether calibration is needed and carry it out, so the driver-assistance systems work as intended. For Volvo this is especially important, because safety is the essence of the marque.
Hybrids and Electric Cars — Recharge, EX30, XC40
The electrified part of Volvo is our field. The Recharge plug-in hybrids (for example the XC60 and XC90 T6/T8) combine a petrol engine with a traction battery charged from the mains, while the EX30, EX40 (XC40 Recharge), EC40 and EX90 electric cars run on the battery alone. We diagnose and service this part specifically: the condition of the traction battery, the charging system, the power electronics, the regenerative braking. For plug-in hybrids we advise on extending battery life through charging habits.
Drive-E Engines and What Matters
The petrol and diesel Volvos of recent generations use the Drive-E engine family (2.0 l) with turbocharging, often with mild hybrid. On these, timely servicing, the condition of the cooling system and keeping an eye on the oil matter. On older diesels (including the five-cylinder ones) the emissions system — DPF, EGR — deserves attention. We diagnose and service these components specifically.
